Feb 5, 2021 The last of the “Cathedral Oaks” along West Third Street in the city of Jamestown began to come down Thursday. In December, city crews began cutting the iconic trees, about two each day with nice weather. Dan Stone, city arborist, told members of the Jamestown Parks, Recreation & Conservation Commission late last year the decision to cut down the 43 oak trees, most of them more than 100 years old, due to safety concerns.
