Two brothers were sentenced in federal court on Jan. 25 for attacking a Black man shopping at Family Dollar with an ax handle in Citrus Springs, Florida.
Roy Lamar Lashley, 55, admitted he and his brother, Robert Dewayne Lashley, 52, attacked and beat a Black man after following him out of a store. Lashley said he attacked the man with an axe handle, authorities said.
'Racially-motivated hate crimes have no place in our society,' a federal official said.
