Team members from Nash Produce will be taking advantage of every opportunity that the Southeast Produce Council’s Southern Exposure show has to offer.
Nash Produce will be showcasing its locally grown North Carolina sweet potatoes at this year’s New York Produce Show, exhibiting at booth No. 435. “We will be displaying varieties such as the purple Murasaki, the white Bonita, along with the orange Covington,” said Robin Narron, sales support and marketing director for the Nashville, NC-based company. “We will also be displaying our value-added packaging options that we have available.”
Due to their sweetness and pleasant texture, sweet potatoes are a multipurpose vegetable that more consumers are starting to add to their grocery carts regularly—especially in the fall, when sweet potatoes’ scrumptious taste and vivid coloring perfectly represent the season when leaves drop to the ground. And while sweet potatoes have been historically known as a dish served for Thanksgiving and Christmas, with increased consumer demand of healthy eating habits, sweet potatoes are no longer just a holiday food.
The genesis of Nash Produce began in 1977 as a large farming and produce packing and shipping operation focused on cucumbers. In 2006, a group of local growers recognized the need for a packing facility, which led to the purchase of Nash Produce. Since that time, the company has transitioned away from cucumbers to a more singular focus on sweet potatoes.
Nash Produce has been a member of the Southeast Produce Council and has been participating in Southern Innovations since the show’s origin. Since the SEPC show brings together a large number of its customers in one venue, it allows Nash Produce the opportunity to spend quality time with individuals in which the team normally spends many hours communicating with over phone, email or video chat.
