Wärtsilä's energy storage system will boost Mexico's wind power capabilities

ECO and the Wärtsilä energy storage system will be connected to the local grid controlled by the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE), Mexico s Independent System Operator. The system can control the facility s ramp rate, in order to enhance generation reliability, as well as providing frequency control and capacity.
Wärtsilä s GEMS smart energy management system will interface with and take instructions from the wind farm master controller. GEMS is a platform that connects energy assets to energy markets in technically and economically optimised manner. The platform s flexible architecture - adjusting based on market conditions - and real-time optimisation, supports the management of fluctuations in output caused by dynamically changing wind conditions. ....

From Saltwater to Drinking Water: NREL Announces 10 Winners of the Waves to Water Prize ADAPT Stage; Launch of CREATE Stage

COVID-19 & Looking Ahead to 2021 and Beyond, Insights from Roof Tech Supported by DOE s Water Power Technologies Office, the five-stage, $3.3-million contest aims to accelerate innovation in small, modular, wave-powered desalination systems capable of producing clean water in disaster recovery scenarios, as well as water-scarce coastal and island locations.
Over three years, the Waves to Water Prize provides innovators a pathway from initial concept to field-testing their wave-energy-powered desalination devices. The prize will culminate in an open-water test in April 2022, when competitors will launch and test their devices at Jennette s Pier, in partnership with the Coastal Studies Institute.

The Collaborative Robot Market 2021–28: Grounds for Optimism After a Turbulent Two Years

In its latest report on the collaborative robot market, Interact Analysis has revised downwards the growth predictions made in our 2019 report. The main factor behind this downward revision is, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic, but there are other downward drivers, such as competition from small articulated and SCARA robots in industrial settings, and a slower than expected increase in cobot installations in non-industrial settings. Nevertheless, this report gives good grounds for optimism for the short to medium term in the collaborative robot sector.

V-shaped rebound and sustained growth predicted
The collaborative robot market weathered a difficult 2019 due to a slow-down in the global economy which affected the important Asian market the most, and a tumultuous 2020, when the market saw negative growth for the first time – -11.3% in revenue terms, and -5.7% in shipment terms. Factory and warehouse shut-downs slowed down demand and customers exercised caution w ....
