The UFC must have thought long and hard before deciding what fight would be the headlining contest in the promotion’s return to Philadelphia after not holding an event in “The City of Brotherly Love” for nearly eight years. The reputation of Philadelphia sports fans for being difficult to please and quick to voice their displeasure is well documented, so the lightweight fight between all-action contenders Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje makes perfect sense. After dropping consecutive fights to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Kevin Lee, Barboza righted the ship with a third-round TKO of Dan Hoo...

While Dan Hooker has been separated from his family since UFC 257, the time in isolation has evidently given him plenty of time to contemplate his loss to Chandler and his future in the crowded UFC lightweight division. “Now I got an ugly-ass record as it is, it’s not like I got to protect the damn thing,” Hooker told ESPN after UFC 257 (via MMAMania). “It’s a powerful thing knowing you can pick yourself back up. That is what allows me to take risks other guys aren’t willing to take.” Since joining the UFC roster in 2016, Hooker has gone 10-6 with the promotion, defeating the ...

UFC featherweight prospect Giga Chikadze will face the toughest test on his career when he takes on 145lb veteran Cub Swanson on May 1. Swanson was originally supposed to fight Gavin Tucker on this same card but Tucker is now matched up against Dan Ige. The Georgian fighter enjoyed a busy and impressive 2020. Chikadze fought four times and won all four bouts. The 32-year-old edged past Jamall Emmers in March before dominating Irwin Rivera over three rounds, two months later. In October, Chikadze picked up another decision win when he fought Omar Morales on the undercard of Marlon Moraes vs. C...

Perennial UFC lightweight contender Dan Hooker believes his new “ugly-ass record” will allow him to take risks other guys aren’t willing to take. Hooker (20-10 MMA) suffered his second straight loss at January’s UFC 257 event, this after being knocked out by Michael Chandler in the very first round. Prior to that devastating setback, ‘The Hangman’ was coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Dustin Poirier in a “fight of the year” performance. Now sporting what he deems to be an “ugly-ass record”, Dan Hooker believes he will be able to take more risks going forward. “N...

Feb 25, 2021 Longtime UFC lightweight contender and recent featherweight mover, Edson Barboza has put pen to paper on a new multi-fight deal with the UFC — furthering his so far eleven-year stay with the North American-based organization.  A staple of the promotion’s lightweight top-ten and top-five on occasion, the Muay Thai ace recently tested featherweight waters in a somewhat surprising move last May — and has so far established a 1-1 record at 145-pounds, claiming the #14 rank.  Debuting at the featherweight limit at a UFC Fight Night event in Jacksonville, Florida in May — Bar...
