RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Interested in a little extra spending money for the upcoming holiday weekend? Health officials in four North Carolina counties will offer $25 incentives for those who ve yet to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The state Department of Health and Human Services announced a pilot program starting Wednesday at certain vaccine sites in Mecklenburg, Guilford, Rowan and Rockingham counties.
Adults who get their first vaccination dose at the sites or drive someone for that first-dose appointment will receive $25 cash cards, DHHS said in a new release.
The “Summer Cash Cards” will be available through June 8 while supplies last. The State Employees Credit Union is providing the cards for the pilot. ....

More than 2.4 million older adults are supported each year by Meals on Wheels, a program through which seniors and people with disabilities receive healthy and tasty meals for free from a network of volunteers. These efforts are usually organized through local senior centers and other community organizations across the U.S. that encourage the people who receive meals to make voluntary donations to cover at least part of the cost if that’s within their means. ....

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) - The City of Kannapolis is currently accepting applications for home improvement contractors for the Urgent Home Repair Program. Each year the City of Kannapolis receives federal monies which may be spent on homes that have urgent repairs. The goal of the federal program is to assist people in staying in their homes and keeping homes livable versus displacing people and homes falling into disrepair and becoming neighborhood eyesores. ....
