Ong, Jr. (REVIEW ESSAY) - The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968; Ph.D. in theology, Boston University, 1955) and the Reverend Dr. Walter J. Ong, Jr. (1912-2003; Ph.D. in English, Harvard University, 1955) were prophetic voices, each in his own distinctive way. Even though neither man discussed the other's work, I show here one way to connect certain aspects of their thought that I hope may be helpful in our contemporary American culture.
