The presenter appeared on This Morning to share her story, now that her ex Jonathan Wignall has been sentenced to three years in prison, in the hope that it may help other victims spot the signs and seek help.
Speaking to Phillip and Rochelle, Ruth explains "I very much became the focus of his temper, his anger. I was the one who he could direct it at. Looking back with a lot of horror now, I can see the signs but you almost don't want to admit it to yourself and that has been quite a difficult thing, even for me to do now."
