When 17-year-old Robert Wright died alone in his cell at the Circleville Juvenile Detention Facility last August, the staff member who was supposed to be checking on him twice an hour might have been asleep. Apr 26, 2021 Numerous policy violations are reported to be the cause of the death of an inmate at the Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility last August. Ryan Gies is the Director of Ohio's Department of Youth Services, and says staff members did not properly make rounds to check on sleeping inmates on the morning that 17-year-old Robert Wright was found unresponsive in his cell. Wright was serving a juvenile sentence for sexual battery out of Hamilton County. Gies added that two staff members were seen sleeping during their shifts as well.
