Local wildfire prevention advocates want $42 million over five years for fuel reduction and similar projects to prevent a repeat of large fires that in recent years destroyed about 1,500 homes, businesses and other structures. Napa County is in no hurry to debate whether and under what conditions cannabis might someday be grown commercially in wine country. County Supervisor Brad Wagenknecht brought up the issue last week to the Board of Supervisors. After more than two years of trying, Save the Family Farms has convinced Napa County to take up the issue of micro-wineries, which amount to a more mom-and-pop approach to the wine world. The county will consider allowing farms making small amounts of wines to host tastings without building a winery, perhaps at a table overlooking a vineyard. A proposed law could be ready by August. The Napa County Board of Supervisors is to soon consider investigating whether county processes allowed Supervisor Belia Ramos or others to jump the line to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Supervisor Diane Dillon brought the topic up at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. She described receiving comments from constituents on Ramos’ first-dose vaccination, a vaccination Ramos has said was proper.
