Napa County is spending $1.8 million to add a firefighting helicopter under the control of the county fire chief for the rest of wildfire season.
Major wine industry groups are calling on Napa County to explore running its own fire department for rural areas, rather than contracting with Cal Fire to do the job. The groups also endorsed the countyâs recent decision to explore creating a quarter-cent sales tax ballot measure for wildfire prevention.
