A MAN with paranoid schizophrenia attacked a woman with a knife leaving her with a 10cm gash to her head. Richard Shinnick had been invited by his friend to live in her home in May this year due to him being made homeless. The 40-year-old was living with her at her house in Basildon on May 13 when the attack happened while she was in bed. Shinnick was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court yesterday for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, having a blade and criminal damage.
