The 2021 Polaris Music Prize Short List has been revealed. Mustafa, The Weather Station, Cadence Weapon, the OBGMs, DijahSB, and TOBi are among the artists nominated for the award, which annually honors the best Canadian album of the year, as determined by a panel of journalists, broadcasters, bloggers and programmers. New albums from 40 Canadian musicians were named on the extended list that will be narrowed down to 10 contenders for a short list due July 15. Brighton's Patterns venue has revealed details of its reopening series of parties, taking place from June to September. Due to reopen in late June, in line with the UK government's current COVID-19 roadmap, the club will host DJ sets from Horse Meat Disco, Sicaria Sound, DJ Storm, Oneman and Forest Drive West, among others, in its first month back. In August, the club will invite Goldie and Martyn, as well as Leon Vynehall and Peach, to play b2b sets. Plastician, Gilles Peterson, Yu Su and Riz La Teef will also play, while the venue will kick off the month with a weekend of Pride parties.
