The city is using "ranked-choice voting" for the first time. Residents also will weigh in on whether the city council should have five districts.
Thursday’s forum was hosted by the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce.
Riverside County elections officials will begin mailing vote-by-mail ballots by Oct. 10. The election is Nov. 8.
Palm Desert is the second valley city to recently enter such a partnership with CVWD, after Rancho Mirage city officials approved a similar program in early July.
While only District 2 will vote on the council seats, all residents will be asked in November whether Palm Desert should switch to five voting districts.
