The developer that is remaking the Pier 66 property has floated a proposal to build three 480-foot residential towers on either side of Fort Lauderdale's 17th Street Causeway, providing a "gateway" effect to a high-end neighborhood and the city's beaches. The idea, which would require the raising of local height restrictions, calls for sleek-looking high rises that would preserve views and reflect the area's status as a major marine center, developers say.
