A federal grand jury in Roanoke has indicted two Central Virginia men with multiple federal crimes in connection with a 2023 drug robbery and homicide where one defendant sought to dispose of the victim’s body in Bedford County by setting it aflame.
The Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force started about two years ago.
The task force has arrested 48 people on drug and firearm violations, with resulting convictions leading to sentences totaling almost 700 years.
Marcello L. Steelman was being held Friday without bond.
