Newly elected Kevin Robinson said his “lived experience” as a police officer will benefit the Phoenix City Council when he takes office.

Phoenix City Council races for districts 6 and 8 were being decided in runoff elections Tuesday. The candidates in District 6 are Kevin Robinson and Sam Stone, running to replace term-limited Council member Sal DiCiccio. In District 8, Council member Carlos Garcia faces challenger Kesha Hodge Washington.

Sam Stone, who ran for City Council in Maricopa County's 6th District, served as Lake's policy adviser during her failed bid for Arizona governor in the fall.

Voters in parts of Phoenix took part in a runoff election on Mar. 14, after no one received a majority of the votes cast in the November election for two city council seats. Unofficial results show an incumbent city council member behind in votes. Meanwhile, a candidate who once served as a policy advisor for Kari Lake's 2022 gubernatorial campaign has conceded the election.

The returns in the Phoenix City Council runoff election were released, with Kevin Robinson defeating Sam Stone and Kesha Hodge Washington leading over incumbent Carlos Garcia.
