Walmart's PhonePe launched Pincode, a hyperlocal commerce app and joined the New Delhi-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
At present, PhonePe's Pincode app is only available in Bengaluru city and will soon be launched in other cities
The Walmart-owned digital payments platform that recently separated from Flipkart has partnered with ONDC to mark its entry in the ecommerce space, also giving the government-backed protocol a big boost with a dedicated platform.
According to him, ONDC will not be limited to a few players but everyone in India -- a person owning a small grocery store, a small electronics retailer or a restaurant owner -- bringing millions of such people on the e-commerce marketplace and buyers will come from any consumer app.
