Chamber Board President Anna Rogers said they hired Choat-Brown for many reasons, and they were especially convinced when she said she was willing to put in the work to excel on the job. “Deidre has a lot of passion for everything that she does. And she is very detail-oriented, a great communicator, and we believe she will do a great job of being that liaison between the board and the community,” Rogers said. “Deidre told us in her first email inquiring about the job that even if she needed to train for some of the tasks required for the job, she was willing to put in that time and effort. We are excited to have her.” ....
Hunting supplies and more Will Sadler | Photojournalist Archer & Gunn Mercantile (A&GM), Olney’s newest business to open, sells mostly hunting supplies and is a great fit for Olney and the surrounding area. Owner operator Reid Miller says, “The idea to open the mercantile happened organically. We have a group in town who are making improvements to Olney and we were able to obtain this building and started shooting ideas around, talking to some guys in town and talking with Sammy Livingston, who had some ideas on this sort of stuff and helped get it launched.” Miller said they looked around the area and tried to figure out what was missing, which helped him to decide what products and the direction the business should take. Some name brand products, like Yeti and Vortex, will be easy to spot in the store.
