Clubs, organisations and charities across Helston have been awarded more than £7,000 by Helston Town Council

The new mayor of Helston has set out his priorities for the town over the next year.

Helston South was the only ward to hold an election in the town last Thursday. Returning members include Tim Grattan-Kane, with 356 votes, meaning that he will now go on to come town mayor later this month. Also re-elected were retiring mayor John Martin, who polled the highest number of votes with 433 standing as Liberal Democrat, along with Rev Danny Reed as an Independent (389 votes) and Felicity Boase, who is always known by her middle name Nicola, also as an Independent (372 votes). Guy Foreman was elected to the new Helston South & Meneage seat as one of just two Cornwall councillors for Helston, from the previous three, following a government boundary review reducing the number of councillors from 123 to 87.
