Staff Reports The City of San Marcos has been awarded $1.16 million in federal funding to support transit operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will be allocated by the Federal Transit Administration as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, signed by President Biden on March 11. The American Rescue Plan Act includes a total of $30.5 billion dollars to support public transportation. Funds will be made available at 100-percent federal share and will primarily be directed toward operations and payroll to prevent service cuts, protect employees from layoffs, strengthen the economy, and ensure safety. “Transportation workers are serving on the front lines of this pandemic delivering the vaccine, getting people to essential jobs, and providing goods and services to people who need them,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg while announcing the funding allocations. ....
