It is certainly ironic that at opening night of “Age of Aquarius: The Music of Hair,” I saw more bare bottoms — of faces — than I have seen in person since the pandemic shut down the world. The Duluth Playhouse’s second mini-season offering at the NorShor Theatre saw more audience members wearing tie-dyed shirts than wearing masks.

In February 2018, the Duluth Playhouse heralded the rebirth of the NorShor Theatre with “Mamma Mia!”
Thursday night, performers Jen Burleigh-Bentz, Vicki Fingalson and Tanya Moore returned to that stage for “Dancing Queens: The Music of ABBA’s Mamma Mia!” to reopen the NorShor from its lengthy pandemic slumber for an audience happy to hoot and holler for an hour at every song they heard.

Theater by Zoom
The University of Minnesota Duluth’s production of “Love and Information,” directed by Lauren Roth, is a play of bits and blurbs, pieces of conversation the audience is dropped into: a tug-of-war over a secret, a message from an unlikely source, a sister who is technically a mother.

Playwright Caryl Churchill’s work premiered in London in 2012, and it contains dozens of plotlines and more than 100 characters. Pre-pandemic, it played on a stark, simple set. Now it comes to you within the neat boxes of Zoom. “Love and Information” is available for viewing at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11-14.
