i have to say it's felt uneasy before the situation today. just to give you an idea of get ing into the courthouse, the media and the public kwoou and sometimes that starts overnight. people show up around 6:30 around when i get there. there's different lines depending on the credentials you have. and there's a public line. i think there's an understanding that the public want to witness this. so every day some members of the public are let in along with the media. right now, we're in that overflow room so there's 100 some seats. the back row is reserved for the media. but monday morning there was a fellow there screaming demanding to be in because of his first amendment rights. this went on for two hours. he was let in. and then he the gets sat down. he's agitating and has a tunny outfit on. i was sitting right in front him. then the courtroom was frozen because the jurors are going in.

political congress gets to decide. it made absolutely no sense. and i was there in the courtroom. and it was just -- it was devastating. >> you were in the courtroom today as these arguments were being made, george? >> yeah. i was sitting way in the back, but i could hear it pretty well except for maybe judge henderson, whose voice was a little soft. it was absolutely -- it was one of those moments, and i'm writing a piece in "the atlantic" tonight that should come out tomorrow, where you know before -- it was like ten minutes into the argument when judge pan just completely demolished trump's lawyer. and you knew right then you didn't have to hear anything else. the lawyer for the special counsel's office could have just stood up there and talked for five minutes of nonsense and sat down, and he still would have known that he won. i mean, the rest of the event was kind of anti-climactic after those exchanges that you just played. >> the other argument was essentially what judge pan also brought up, i believe it was judge pan, that the question of

one person we did not hear from, but who was there, ryan, was donald trump himself. how was he reacting during these arguments? >> reporter: that's right, and apologies for the music in the background. and donald trump walked in about five minutes before the arguments started, and he took a brief look around and he took a sigh and sat down, and he was mostly muted and listening, and there was legal ease that went over his head, and he was most animated when his lawyer was speaking and his own lawyer said claiming that donald trump was winning in all the polls, and that got the most reaction out of trump with him shaking his head yes, and he was animated during certain parts of the special counsel's argument, and this was a pretty tense atmosphere in the courtroom, and you had jack smith seated there as well and i didn't see a

went running back in from the little war room where we prepared to see and watch and listen to their votes. and i watched as miss mcconnell stood and his place, said not guilty, sat down, and when we went back to the courtroom, within minutes at the conclusion a deficit, as you say, 57, 43, mitch mcconnell stood and gave a prepared speech that said that the president is practically and morally responsible. practically speaking of both sides of his mouth. i think about it a lot. >> it was a very stern speech after being voted not guilty. what is important to me that we face ourselves in this remarkable situation, the multiple indictments, the most important is jack smith's indictment, for the crimes that is laid out in the select committee's report. that criminal conviction is not the only means at our disposal.
