LUCKNOW: At least 18 people died and 25 others were injured after a truck hit a stationary bus in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district in the wee hours of Wednesday, police said.
"The truck rammed into the bus near Ram Sanehi Ghat in Barabanki late last night. Rescue operation to recover the bodies stuck under the bus is under way," said Satya Narayan Sabat, ADG, Lucknow zone.

Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 28 (ANI): At least 18 people died after a truck rammed into a bus near Ram Sanehi Ghat in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
As per Satya Narayan Sabat, Additional Director General (ADG), Lucknow Zone, 19 people injured in the accident have been hospitalised.
"A truck rammed into a bus near Ram Sanehi Ghat In Barabanki, late last night. About 18 casualties were reported with many passengers sustaining injuries. A total of 19 injured have been admitted to the district hospital," he said.

At least 18 labourers resting on the side of a road were crushed to death under a bus in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district on Wednesday, the police said. Twenty-five people were injured in the accident and have been moved to a hospital.
The accident took place on the Lucknow-Ayodhya national highway around 1.30 am, according to the
Hindustan Times.
Satya Narayan Sabat, the additional director general of police of Lucknow Zone, said the labourers, who are natives of Bihar, were returning from Punjab and Haryana on the bus. The police officer added that the axle shaft of the bus broke down, and the driver asked the passengers to step out of the vehicle so he could fix it.

As many as 18 people were killed after a bus was hit by a speeding truck in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki on Wednesday. According to the details, the accident was reported in the wee hours today at the National Highway 28, where the double-decker bus was parked at the roadside following a breakdown. 
Eighteen labourers, who were sleeping on the roadside were killed due to the impact of the accident. More than 24 labourers have been reported injured.
A team of police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the accident. 
Commenting on the accident, Satya Narayan Sabat, ADG, Lucknow Zone said, "A truck rammed into a bus near Ram Sanehi Ghat In Barabanki, late last night. About 18 casualties with many passengers sustaining injuries;19 hospitalized."

New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the loss of lives in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the kin of the injured.
"PM @narendramodi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Barabanki. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) tweeted.

Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 28 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday expressed condolences after at least 18 people lost their lives in a road accident near Ram Sanehi Ghat in Barabanki.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to reach the accident site and ensure that the injured people receive proper treatment and directed to provide financial assistance to the deceased's kin.
"The death of people in a road accident in Ram Sanehi Ghat area of district Barabanki is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved family. Praying to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed souls a place at his feet and speedy recovery to the injured," Adityanath tweeted in Hindi.
