Her family rushed her to the nearest hospital. But because it had no cardiac specialists, she was referred to another facility more than another hour’s drive away. She died there five minutes after arrival - a collateral victim, doctors explained, of a draconian security environment. “The Doctors told us if there was an Internet, they could have contacted the cardiologists in Srinagar and stabilized her,” her father, Gul Mohammad Shah, told the Telegraph. “She would have survived had there been an internet service available.” ....

Final Journey Ali, 37, was doing his routine work on Thursday night. His mother told his colleagues that she was with him till 1 am. But around 2.30 am he had called his mother. ....
KWJA urges DHSK to expedite probe, share report with victim’s family SRINAGAR :Kashmir Working Journalists Association (KWJA) is dismayed over the criminal silence maintained by the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir over the enquiry into the death of senior journalist Muddasir Ali. Muddasir, who was a senior editor at Greater Kashmir, died exactly a month before at Chrar Sharif Sub-District hospital after the on-duty doctor failed to provide him basic life support. The KWJA wants to convey to the Health department authorities that our month-long silence over the enquiry should not be misconstrued as a fait accompli. “We have been waiting for the outcome of the enquiry for a month now. It seems the Health department wants to hide its failures and hush-up the case. Let it be clear to all that the journalist fraternity of Kashmir will pursue the case until Muddasir, his family and friends get justice,” said Samaan Lateef, General Secretary KWJA. ....
