Hiring here. let s look at how many jobs have been added back since the beginning of the year. you can see this is the weakest since january, and a big, big slow down from the summer. we had june and july, big hiring there in june and july, and then the brakes went on there overall here. how does it make us look for the pandemic? you can see we are in the pandemic, add another 235, that doesn t add much. you are still down more than 5 million jobs since the pandemic began. the jobless rate here, 5.2%. so that is the lowest of the pandemic. that means there are still people being added into the labor market. you are seeing hiring, 5.2% is the number we want to see. we haven t seen the job growth from the company side we want to. look, this is a really important moment in the labor market. we have kids going back to school. in these numbers we saw hiring in education. we know kids are going back to school. maybe that will help some of the child care problems that held back hiring overall ....

That 9% down to 8.76 any time soon. rick: we have a long way to go, but if we re looking for some positive signs, this seems to be it. the number of jobs created. i want to talk a little bit about that because these weren t government jobs. these were jobs in the private sector, right? indeed. some, and even in sectors that we wouldn t have thought. for example, construction, we saw hiring in manufacturing, saw hiring in construction. we saw hire not guilty retail. we did start to see some broadbased hiring. once again the economy, not really government, which we had seen previously in months for quite a period of time. but in private sector as well. rick: what changed? because we ve seen corporate profits have been going through the roof. there was a survey out this week about the pay of ceo s which obviously has nothing to do with corporate profits or maybe it does. i m wondering when we talk about these companies that have been making barrels and barrels of money and yet, they ....
