ELECTION RESULTS: Progressives Win School Board, Levy Passes May 18, 2021 Tuesday night, progressives decisively won Corvallis’ School Board races, with three incumbents retaining their seats, and newcomer Shauna Tominey winning the only seat not contested by an incumbent. The Public Health & Safety Levy renewal, a tax levy decided by voters every five years, also passed. The ostensibly nonpartisan School Board race was especially heated this year, with conservatives allying to challenge a Board that is widely seen as progressive. For their part, progressives similarly allied to defend their seats, and take a seat, after conservative Board member Jay Conroy chose not to seek reelection. ....

CAITLYN M. MAY Ballots for the May 18 special election have been sent out, and one of the more in-depth questions voters will have this time around is who to vote for in several contested school board races both in Linn and Benton counties. In Corvallis, there are four contested races, and two current board members are switching positions. Vince Adams,who currently holds Position 4, is running for Position 6 â a spot currently held by Luhui Whitebear, who is running for Adamsâ Position 4 seat. In Corvallis, all members serve at large and board positions are not tied to residency in a certain district. ....
