Robertson officials discuss COVID-19 challenges, cases and vaccines with state's Unified Command


Robertson County marks the group’s 46th statewide county visit to date.
Gov. Bill Lee appointed the Unified Command in response to the COVID-19 pandemic last year to streamline coordination across the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), Tennessee Department of Health and Tennessee Department of Military.
Governor has daily focus on COVID-19 
The group works to address the COVID-19 health, economic and supply crises across the state. Members meet with Gov. Lee five to six days a week for roughly 60-90 minutes a day providing him with vital information concerning the virus.
“Talking about COVID is how he starts his morning every workday,” said retired Brig. Gen. Scott Brower, chief of staff for the Governor’s Unified Command Group. ....

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) plans to return to traditional, predominantly face-to-face instruction and operation for the Fall 2021 semester. The plans will resemble the University’s pre-pandemic class format, while also having the ability to convert to alternative course delivery should the need arise.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With the COVID-19 vaccine heading toward statewide availability by summer, Austin Peay State University plans to return to traditional, mostly face-to-face instruction for fall 2021.
The plans will resemble the university’s pre-pandemic class format, while keeping the ability to convert to alternative course delivery should the need arise, according to a news release.

Tranaya Spencer, 22, pleaded guilty Thursday, Dec. 10 to one count of manslaughter and one count of third-degree child abuse, Kalamazoo County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Scott Brower told MLive.
Spencer will be sentenced Jan. 4 in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court. ....
