Westfield city government will have a complete turnover next year. Along with a new mayor, the Hamilton County city will have seven newcomers on the City Council and a new clerk-treasurer.
Westfield City Councilors voted 4-3 Monday to reject the creation of a parks department and board for the city.
Westfield Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Chris McConnell told the council that the aim of creating a parks and recreation department and board was to attract more state and federal funding to the city to build parks and trails.
Primary voters in Westfield decided among 3 Republicans for the city's first new leader in 16 years.
The vote Monday night reverses a veto from Mayor Cook, which means the approved term limits for elected officials remain in place for now.
