The federal funding will pay for a new state-of-the-art 911 phone system that will speed response times and provide better call tracking. It also will cover a backup power generator to ensure uninterrupted 911 service during power outages caused by severe weather or other emergencies, according to a news release.
Increased enforcement will continue throughout August to raise awareness to the law that makes it illegal to use a hand-held electronic device to text, make phone calls, watch videos and go on social media while driving, according to a press release.
Local officials say police are writing fewer tickets, meaning less revenue is being generated to support the court through fines and fees.
"He’s already the greatest little buddy our community could have," says Officer Andrew Domzalski, Max's handler.
"There would be nothing more frustrating than being at the front door and not being able to get in," said Chief Scott Hilden, Northville Township police.
