In Omaha, Neb., the Joslyn Art Museum, which displays art from ancient times to the present, has announced it will reopen on September 10, following the completion of its new 42,000-sf Rhonda & Howard Hawks Pavilion. Designed in collaboration with Snøhetta and Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, the Hawks Pavilion is part of a museum overhaul that will expand the gallery space by more than 40%.

OMAHA, NE .-Joslyn Art Museum executive director & CEO Jack Becker unveiled the design for the Museum’s expansion and renovation, led by international architectural firm Snøhetta in partnership with Omaha’s Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture (APMA). The new building will be named for Rhonda and Howard Hawks of The Hawks Foundation. Scope of Project Central to the 42,000-square-foot Rhonda and Howard Hawks Pavilion are abundant light-filled galleries designed to meet the demands of and explore the possibilities of a growing permanent collection. Visitors will find new community spaces, additional classrooms, and enhanced amenities that support increased public programs. In addition to the new galleries and public spaces, the architectural team will restore and modernize existing office spaces in Joslyn’s 1931 Memorial Building.
