Illinois Dad of 3 Dies After Falling Into Vat of 1,500C Molten Iron, His Body Split in Half in Accident

Tragedy struck the Caterpillar Mapleton Foundry in Illinois last Thursday, June 2, after employee Steven Dierkes plunged to his death while working. The dad of 3 tripped and fell into a vat of molten iron which had a temperature of almost 1,500 degrees Celsius, causing his body to split in half.
