I am sitting in one of my favorite places, the elegant sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Belmont, North Carolina. Here I have been for my grandsons’ confirmation and other family events. High above me are windows with glass that allows the sun’s light to illuminate the room in colors and hues, both amazing and soothing.
