SPCA holds yard sale and bottle drive TRENTON – On Saturday, May 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the SPCA of Hancock County is holding a yard sale and bottle drive to raise funds for improvements to the shelter’s dog play yards. Sale items run the gamut from dishes, leashes, collars and pet supplies to picture frames, small kitchen appliances and bedding. Bar Harbor youth “Famous Seamus” Colby will also hold a bake sale. The shelter is accepting donations of returnable bottles and cans as well. All the proceeds will go to building shade shelters in the SPCA’s outdoor play yards. The wooden structures allow canines to take a break from the sun and cool off while playing outdoors.

Puppy romp fundraiser set for Saturday April 8, 2021 on News TRENTON – Ready for a cuteness overload? Spend some quality time with adorable puppies while helping to raise funds for the SPCA of Hancock County.  The shelter is taking in a total of 10 young dogs from a North Carolina rescue organization. The dogs, rescued from a puppy mill, have been brought to Maine to find new homes.  Come play with the pups from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, at the shelter at 141 Bar Harbor Road. Reserve a 15-minute play date for $20. Proceeds will go toward the shelter’s Feel Better Fund, which pays for unexpected and urgent medical care for the SPCA animals.

Rudy, 15 years old and deaf, waits at the SPCA of Hancock County for a permanent home. A trio of bonded adult cats at the SPCA of Hancock County found a home, and a second trio almost did, but the prospective adoptive owners had to return them because of a surprise allergic reaction. With kitten season around the corner, just a few cats and dogs are available at the Trenton shelter, a theme of the pandemic year.
