Tainan, Aug. 5 (CNA) A Bank of Taiwan branch and police teamed up in Tainan on Thursday to prevent a 70-year-old woman from falling victim to a fraud ring and throwing away NT$2.15 million (US$71,678) on the purchase of gold bars.
Police say low staffing levels hinder their response to calls.
The deadly incident occurred Wednesday night near Joy Road and Marlowe Street, police said.
“I thank the Second Precinct for working with my office to make this a great success,” Legislator Drucker said.
Officers and Virginia Beach EMS personnel tried to perform lifesaving efforts, but the victim died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
