In a city that had experienced major floods many times in the past, the Flood of 1947 is considered to hold the all-time flood record in Bradford.

While so many other buildings around Bradford have been torn down of late, the YWCA Bradford building has steadily been going up.

The Latrobe Area Historical Society has evolved and expanded throughout the past 50 years — but its continued service to the local community is reliant on the work of numerous dedicated volunteers. President Mary Lou Townsend said the society is seeking younger volunteers to spearhead future growth of the organization.

The city of Keokuk had made a name for itself during the Civil War, and by 1868, the community was truly beginning to show promising fulfillment of its early expectations.

You wouldn't know it passing 7th and Highland today, but for nearly a century, the northwest corner was home to one of the earliest high schools in the city. Later, it was the site of an elementary school. Now, it's an educational institution of higher learning.
