KABUL: Afghan politicians hope that the government of Afghanistan and the Taliban will achieve a political agreement on peace ahead of the announced date for the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan, predicting that an otherwise scenario will not be in the country’s favor.
Former mujahideen leader Mohammad Ismail Khan said that the remaining five months for the full withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan should be used as an opportunity for peace in the country, not for fueling war. He warned that Afghanistan will be plunged into another civil war if both sides refrain from entering meaningful talks. TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of relatives of two men, who were shot dead by their opponents, blocked traffic on Faisalbad-Multan Road, Bypass Road and Pirmahal-Shorkot Cantonment Road at Ghausia Chowk on Monday by placing the bodies on the roads to demand immediate arrest of the killers.
Khurram Gulsher Gadhi, 18, and his maternal uncle Sohail Abbas Gadhi, 32, of chak Kohal Kalan Khurd were shot dead allegedly by their opponent Abdul Razaq Gadhi and his accomplices. Pirmahal police registered a case against 11 accused. Rescue 1122 had shifted the bodies to Pirmahal tehsil headquarters hospital for autopsy but the relatives forcibly took away bodies and placed on roads. Later, police officers held talks with the protesters and assured them immediate arrest of the killers. ....

The industrialist and traders of Pakistan have asked the government to formulate long-term and consistent policies for swift revival of industry and considerable improvement in exports.
Talking to a trade delegation on Saturday, Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Mian Nauman Kabir said that Pakistan’s exports have remained stagnant for a long time and unless attention was paid to factors hampering industrial and export growth, the country might not achieve the desired results.
Under its pledge to revamp the power sector, the government hiked electricity prices but failed to implement reforms to turn the sector efficient. ....
