Law grandfathered a lot of existing chemicals in with very few safety testing requirements. this chemical in west virginia being one of them. basically, it s big enough to drive a truck through. this chemical and many others we don t know a lot about in terms of human health risks. there is flou a proposal from senators rockefeller and boxer to introduce some kind of reform legislation in the wake of this spill. those are some of the main items established a state inspection programs for chemical facilities, sets minimum inspection requirements and standards for facilities. directs states to identify at-risk facilities. the question, are we seeing a gap in the law here or a gap in the enforcement of the law and would this new piece of legislation fix it? well, the bad news is we re seeing both. right. this legislation if it passes, would also honestly, chris, require another bill updating this bill from 1976, in order to have stronger testing standards. what we re talking a be ....
