Newly-planted trees along the Blackwater Creek Trail behind Linkhorne Middle School each represent fourteen service member from the Lynchburg area, killed in action in Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, and on U.S. soil since 1983. A Mississippi police officer accused of a shooting an 11-year-old boy in the chest after he dialled 911 for help has been suspended without pay.
Tempe police said the victim's car had 24 gunshots in it. The motive in the shooting has not been determined.
