The first fire was as Ysgol Penarlag, Hawarden, on Friday afternoon. The other incidents were in Connah's Quay and Holywell on Saturday. Flintshire North's Sergeant Matt Subacchi said that the incidents seemed to have been caused by youths, aged 14 to 16, in secluded or wooded areas. He said: "We believe that groups of youths are setting small fires. The majority of these are in wooded areas or places away from the public. A NUMBER of arrests have been made since the start of an initiative to tackle domestic violence in Flintshire North, a police inspector has said.
AN OPERATION by police to support victims of domestic violence in Flintshire appears to be having an impact. Officers in Flintshire North have been visiting addresses where there is a history of calls for them to attend incidents in the home. Domestic incidents can be between partners or family members. Compared to last year, there has been a decrease of more than 30 per cent in reports of domestic incidents in the Flintshire North area of Deeside, Flint and Holywell.
