Chase by car, foot ends in arrest in Whately

WHATELY Police chased down and arrested a Holyoke man Monday morning after a vehicle pursuit that started in Montague and ended when the suspect crashed at Exit 26 on I-91 south.
Emmanuel Castro, 31, was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield for treatment of minor injuries at around 8:20 a.m. after complaining of pain following his arrest, according to Massachusetts State Trooper Sergei Skorupa, who took Castro into custody.
State Police Sgt. Anthony Martino said Castro was set to be arraigned for failure to stop for a police officer, speeding, assault with a dangerous weapon and a marked lanes violation.

WHATELY A Holyoke man was arrested Monday morning after a brief foot pursuit following a car chase that started in Montague, included an accident that dislodged the vehicle’s bumper and license plate, and reached roughly 90 mph before ending when the suspect crashed at Exit 26 on Interstate 91 southbound.
