SEVENTEEN Mingyu Settles Misunderstandings with Person Accusing Him of School Bullying

Pledis Entertainment went on to share that SEVENTEEN Mingyu did joke around with his male classmates. But, the artist said that they were not referring to a particular classmate at that time and they had no intention of bullying or hurting anyone. While proven innocent of school bullying, SEVENTEEN Mingyu still apologized to the accuser for causing them a hard time or making them feel uncomfortable through his words and actions. The accuser accepted his apology, and also made clear that they don't wish for the K-pop idol to halt his activities or leave the group.

Mingyu's agency further stated that before they released this official statement, they confirmed the content with the accuser first. The label then expressed their hope that the person who accused SEVENTEEN Mingyu of school bullying will no longer have any more arguments concerning the issue.

Mingyu's bullying past: Seventeen's agency Pledis defends K-pop star, Internet wants label to sue accuser

As reported by Soompi, she stated: “Since elementary school, [Mingyu] was good at soccer and was a part of the group of delinquents. In my first year of middle school, there was a time when the scary kids and older students stopped me on my way home from school and took my money and verbally abused me.”
She later explained that one of them threw a bottle at her face and laughed when it hit the mark — she was referring to Mingyu. She also accused him of having robbed her and using the same money to go to his idol group practices. The post was taken down shortly after. Pledis Entertainment, Seventeen's label, put out a statement back then, defending the artist and claiming that it was 'groundless and completely false'.

Why did Seventeen's Mingyu go on hiatus? Agency slams bullying allegations as 'false', fans say he's 'innocent'

'If we... find any wrongdoing, we will clearly take action'
On February 28, Pledis Entertainment denied all accusations with another new letter. "We are making a statement on accusations that are being made online about Seventeen's Mingyu's school days," they began their letter, according to Allkpop. "First, we apologize for not issuing a faster statement. After the accusations were made, we made detailed investigations, including confirming with Mingyu and checking facts that we needed. During that process, we confirmed that there were differences between what was stated and what really happened."
The agency continued, "As there are a lot of situations with school bullying lately, our label believed that a thorough and definite check of the facts was necessary and we are currently checking every single detail. Our statement was delayed because of that. As we stated earlier, we used various methods to contact the victims so we could confirm the truth. We are currently still contacting people and checking with various classmates and others to check what happened."

Seventeen's Mingyu allegedly harassed a female student sexually, would 'say sexual jokes' around her

In fact, according to a report in allkpop that translated the writer's post, she wrote, "I am suffering from depression and anxiety, so I didn't want to fight against someone if I do make this post. I also thought he was only bad to me. However, I decided to write this post because so many people were shielding him from the other allegations. So I am writing this so people can know. I just want to let people know that these things happened and that he's the type of person who did those things."
