Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday morning, the U.S. House of Representatives’ Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chair Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee Chair Grace Napolitano (D-CA), and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced the
Water Quality Protection and Job Creation Act of 2021.
This legislation will reauthorize the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) for the first time in over 30 years, and will also:
Reauthorize the CWSRF at $40 billion over five years
Reauthorize Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grants at $2 billion over five years
Reauthorize the Watershed Pilot Project Program at $1 billion over five years ....

PORTLAND, Maine There will be about an eight week period of alternating closures to the on and off ramps of the I-295 Exit 7 (Franklin Street) interchange in Portland beginning March 15.
The reason for the closures is that the city s Back Cove South Storage Facility project is entering its next phase of work, which is to connect the existing utilities (new or replaced) within the intersection of Marginal Way and Franklin Street to the new storage tanks under the Preble Street playing fields. ....

PORTLAND The City of Portland s Back Cove South Storage Facility project is entering its next phase of work, which is to connect the existing utilities (new or replaced) within the intersection of Marginal Way and Franklin Street to the new storage tanks under the Preble Street playing fields. As a result, there will be an approximate eight week period of alternating closures to the on and off ramps of the I-295 Exit 7 (Franklin St) interchange beginning March 15.
The City will be placing variable message boards with the latest ramp closure information in the vicinity of the work. The ramp closures will vary during the eight week timeframe so motorists should pay attention to the message boards or make plans to seek alternate routes during this time. ....

Tuesday evening, Congress released the final omnibus Appropriations bill of the current session before heading home for the holidays. Most notably, the package contained a provision to create the first ever Low-Income Household Drinking Water and Wastewater Emergency Assistance Program with $638M in appropriations – an historic win for water accessibility and the first appropriation of its kind for water assistance.
