The installation of fiber optic cable in several Baker City neighborhoods has prompted residents to call Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative to report possible downed power lines.
Residents and businesses experienced a power outage in John Day, Canyon City, Prairie City and Bates for about 10 minutes shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29. A spokesman for the Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative said the outage resulted from a loss of supply. OTEC distributes power from other sources such as Bonneville Power Administration and Idaho Power, although it was unclear where the supply loss originated from, said OTEC spokesman Shane Stenquist.
