MARTINSBURG â With state officials continuing to encourage residents to get tested for COVID-19, a mobile self-collecting DNA COVID test company is making stops in the Eastern Panhandle this week.
Curative was founded in January with the initial aim of developing a new test for sepsis, but the company pivoted to COVID-19 testing in early March as supply chains became strained and the need for a new testing process arose, according to the companyâs website.
The company has developed a test that allows individuals to swab their mouths instead of having a doctor or nurse swab in your nose.
The State of West Virginia is partnering with Curative to offer this free service to its residents. Testing will be offered at the following local locations this week: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today and Thursday at the Charles Town Walmart; from 1:30-5:30 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday at the Shepherd University Wellness Center; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, as well as 9 a.m. to 12
