Waka Kotahi NZTA managed to reopen the SH6 route from Nelson to Blenheim about 5pm on Sunday, following heavy rain and flooding on Saturday. In a statement midday Monday Waka Kotahi said crews had reopened the route connecting Lewis Pass, SH7 at Springs Junction to SH65 through the Shenandoah and onto SH6 into Nelson. The Lower Buller Gorge route into Westport re-opened on Monday morning. Tim Newman10:30, May 09 2021 Stuff Emergency services were called out to two crashes in the Tasman district on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Two people have been injured following a three-car crash near Richmond. The crash happened on the Moutere Highway, near the intersection of Redwood Valley Rd, at about 5.20pm on Saturday afternoon. A police spokeswoman said three cars had been involved in the crash, which had blocked traffic on the highway for a time. A St John spokeswoman said two people had been injured in the crash, one with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries, and had been transported by ambulance to Nelson Hospital. ....

Eight people are being treated for injuries, following a school bus crash in the Tasman District 9 March 2021 The bus crashed into a ditch on Shenandoah Highway near Maruia Saddle and Pea Soup Roads, in Murchison, yesterday afternoon. Two people have been treated for moderate injuries in Nelson Hospital. The seven other people on board the bus are being treated in a medical clinic with minor injuries. ....
