For a decade,
Ship Outreach and Community Center has been serving the kids, families and residents of the neighborhoods that are south and east of downtown Raleigh, an area that has struggled with food insecurity and poverty.
For years, as a stay at home mom of three, Aleece Spalding had volunteered with the group. Two years ago, she became its development director. And in September, she was named its executive director. As the nonprofit marks its 10th anniversary, I checked with Spalding to learn more about the work the group is involved in and how to help.
