Peoria man Shontel Diggins wins new hearing on appeal of 1995 case
PEORIA – A trio of appellate court judges ordered that a Peoria man's post-conviction petition be reinstated and heard because his attorney failed to properly represent him. The judges from the 3rd District Appellate Court in Ottawa wrote in a June 1 order that Shontel Diggins, now 45, should have a new attorney appointed and his case set for an as-yet unscheduled hearing under the state's Post Conviction Act.
