A staff research associate, at the Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center in California, spotted one Monday night and was able to take a picture of it. The lunar rainbow or moonbow was caused by light coming off of the moon and some rain sprinkles above the desert. It s a little hard to see with it being night and all, but you can definitely make it out in the picture.
