Creating an enjoyable, laugh-along adventure, “The Pajama Game” accomplishes exactly what it sets out to: an easy-watching comedy experience.

Nearly 60 Bedford High School students are rehearsing to present their spring musical, “The Pajama Game,” Feb. 25-27.

Broadway World had the pleasure of attending the premiere of The Pajama Game, a musical play by author Richard Bissell and George Abbott. Set in 1950s America, it tells the story of a pajama factory where workers are actively demanding a salary raise of seven and a half cents.

“The Pajama Game” ran for more than a thousand performances on Broadway in the 1950s and this week’s production by the College Light Opera Company at the Highfield Theatre shows why. The music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross turn a Midwestern, assembly-line garment factory into a vibrant showcase for a romance that thrives on humor, exuberance, surprise and stubborn persistence.
